I too am a grass-fed convert thanks to Pollan's Omnivore's Dilemma, or... at least I would be if I could find it! It's good to know that Trader Joe's has ground beef, but where can you find steak? How about grass-fed milk and cheese? I guess if it's imported then it's probably safe (since I believe only the US is corn-crazed). Anyways, I just found your blog and really enjoy it. I'll have to check this stuff out. I've often wondered where one would go around here to purchase a whole steer or even a lamb for that matter! We don't have a full freezer in our garage, but I certainly could not live without a 2nd refrigerator/freezer in my garage. Handy thing to have around! Great pics! The Linkery restaurant in North Park has - on occasion - local, pastured goat and lamb from a farm in <a HREF="http://thelinkery.com/blog/?p=601" REL="nofollow">Fallbrook</a> , and may have found a new source for goat/beef/lamb from <a HREF="http://thelinkery.com/blog/?p=739" REL="nofollow">Fountain of Youth Farm</a> in Ramona. However, there's still the issue of no processing plants for independent meat in the County to contend with. I wish I had the energy to convince some of these folks to start a meat CSA.
